Frequently asked Questions – Accomodations


  1. What are the methods of payment for accommodations?

    We accept USD or JMD currency with the use of visa, master card or discover credit card, multilink debit cards, cash, managers & traveller’s cheques. Purchase Orders can be used to confirm reservations from UWI / UTECH departments, government agencies and as approved by the Hospitality Manager.
  2. Is my room rate payable only in US dollars, how is the exchange rate decided?
    The hotel accepts only US and Jamaican currency for payment of the guest’s bills. The rate of exchange is determined on a weekly basis by the University of the West Indies and the amount to be paid will be converted from US to Jamaican using that exchange rate.
  3. Are children allowed and what is the rate for children?
    Accommodations for children twelve (12) years and under are complimentary with each paying adult.
  4. How many adults are allowed per room?
    Maximum two (2) adults are allowed to a guest room. This is based on safety and security standards set by the relevant local authorities
  5. Can guests receive printing services?
    All registered guests of the Mona Visitors’ Lodge requesting printing services are eligible for complimentary printing of the first three (3) pages (primarily for the purpose of printing flight itineraries or flight check-in information). All other prints are at an additional cost.
  6. Do guests have access to Laundry facilities?
    Guests have access to a washer and dryer in the laundry room on the main hotel floor. The guest will have to provide their own detergent or pay for use of the hotel’s detergent for the laundering of personal items. A housekeeper is able to assist the process.
  7. What if I loose my Room Keys?
    The cost for replacement of Guest room keys is US$100.00. Guest may opt to leave their keys for security at the Front Office before they leave the premises.
  8. Are there any other taxes or surcharges applicable to the room rate?
    There are no taxes (tax exempt), surcharges or service charges applicable to the room rate
  9. Do you provide roll away beds and what is the cost for each?
    The hotel has a limited number of roll away beds that can be requested prior to your arrival. The cost for use of the bed for adult guests s US$25.00 additional
  10. Is smoking allowed, can I smoke in my room?
    The hotel has a no smoking policy for all indoor areas. Charges associated with laundering of fabric will be levied for non-compliance. Guests may request a room with a private balcony to smoke on the balcony or outdoor areas.
  11. Do you do complimentary shuttle service to and from the airport?
    The hotel does not provide a shuttle service to and from the airport. We however can assist in making arrangements with licensed transportation providers at a cost to the guest.
  12. Is there a safe in the room; is there a cost for its use?
    The hotel has a limited number of in-room safes available for rental at a minimal cost. Please inform us of your interest in using a safe when making your reservation. Additionally you may utilise the vault in our Administrative offices for securing your valuables.
